National

NEW YORK, February 25, 2021—iMentor is pleased to announce that its CEO search committee has selected Axis Talent Partners (Axis), an executive search and talent strategy firm founded and led by women of color, to lead the search for the organization’s next CEO.

Axis works with social impact organizations to provide talent solutions that are grounded in relationship building and centered in equity and inclusivity. Laura Donald, founder & CEO of Axis Talent Partners, will lead the search process and candidate recruitment effort on behalf of iMentor.

To support the search, iMentor's board of directors created a CEO search committee dedicated to identifying a pool of candidates that reflect not only the communities with which iMentor partners, but also the organization's commitment to equity and inclusion. The search committee is led by co-chairs John Griffin and Rich Buery and comprised of board directors Charles Best, Mark Bezos, Bianca Gottesman, Kimberley Hatchett, Josh Hill, John T. Lykouretzos, and David Saltzman.

Following a 17-year tenure with the organization, Mike O'Brien stepped down as CEO in December 2020. His legacy is an organization of sustained impact and results, with the talent and resources needed to advance to the next stage of evolution.

"We are deeply grateful for Mike's leadership over the last 17 years, and we are well-positioned to find the right candidate to serve as a catalyst for iMentor’s next phase of impact,” said Griffin, iMentor's founder and board chair. “We seek a passionate CEO who brings a strategic vision for iMentor’s continued growth and advancement as an organization rooted in a mission of educational equity.”.

iMentor's greatest asset is the strength of its community, made of up thousands of mentors, partners, investors, and supporters. Together with the CEO search committee, Axis has led an inclusive organizational discovery process over the past three months, facilitating more than 45 interviews with key internal and external stakeholders to inform the candidate profile and search.
