Mike O'Brien

Chief Executive Officer

Mike O’Brien is the Chief Executive Officer of iMentor. Mike joined iMentor in 2003, working directly with mentor-mentee pairs, and went on to work across many functions of the organization before taking over as CEO in 2007. Under his leadership, the organization has expanded to 18 different communities across the country.

Mike serves on the board of directors of Blue Engine, a national service model that brings together teams of teachers working in historically oppressed communities to reimagine the classroom experience for all students. He also is on the national board of directors for BUILD, an organization dedicated to proving the power of experiential learning through entrepreneurship and igniting the potential of youth in under-resourced communities. He is the recipient of an Ashoka Fellowship, which recognizes leading social entrepreneurs who have innovative solutions to social problems and the potential to change patterns across society.

Before joining iMentor, Mike began his career as a high school teacher in East New York, Brooklyn. He is a graduate of Bucknell University.
