Chief Operating Officer
Daniel joins iMentor as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer with a wide-range of experiences in New York City public schools. Prior to joining iMentor, Daniel worked as the Chief Operating Officer for the New York City Department of Education’s District 79, a citywide network of alternative programs which serves 20,000 overage, under-credited students whose schooling has been interrupted for a range of life circumstances – from pregnancy to incarceration to immigration. In District 79, Daniel managed a team that provided the core financial and operational supports to the District’s portfolio of programs. Before transitioning to District 79, Daniel worked as a Project Manager in the Market Maker Office at the city’s central Department of Education, where he worked on a small team that transformed the structure of the Department of Education from a system of regional supports to a market-based, school-centric network model. He began his career as a New York City Teaching Fellow at North Star Academy. Daniel holds a B.A in Economics from Connecticut College, a M.S. in Education from Brooklyn College, and he was a Chancellor’s Fellow with the New York City Department of Education leadership program. He is on the Education Committee of the Board for PAVE Academy Charter School, a K-8 school in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Daniel lives in Brooklyn with his wife and daughter.
