Bianca Jones

Program Manager, College Success, Chicago

Bianca is a Program Manager in the Chicago region. Prior to joining the iMentor team, she held various positions in education centering literacy, civic engagement, and youth activism. As a Middle School English Teacher and Grassroots Campaign Instructor at Village Leadership Academy in Chicago she created and taught a college preparatory, culturally relevant curriculum that empowered students to understand themselves and their history, develop critical thinking and perspective taking skills, and identify themselves as change makers in their communities. She led four classes in action projects addressing their perceived community “issues”: police violence, young parenting, and rethinking memorialization- launching a campaign to rename a major park from the namesake of Stephen Douglas, a slaveholder to that of Frederick Douglass, the great abolitionist. She brings that spirit of activism to iMentor focusing on empowering Chicago youth to pursue their passions and purpose in ways that ensure not only individual success but collective good.
