Ajuah Helton comes to iMentor from Teach For America (TFA), where she served as Vice President of External Affairs for the Metro Atlanta region. At TFA, Ajuah led the region's district and community partnerships, marketing and communications and data and impact strategy work, including securing teaching positions for 150-200 teachers annually across 80+ schools and three school districts, leading a multi-million-dollar literacy partnership, and overseeing student, teacher and organizational data- and knowledge-management practice. She is also an alumni of TFA who taught high school English and special education in New Orleans.
Prior to TFA, Ajuah was an entrepreneurship teacher, regional director and ultimately Chief Program Officer (CPO) with BUILD. Ajuah launched BUILD's Metro DC region, including teaching the program, hiring a full staff, customizing curriculum for regional context, establishing school partnerships and building a regional advisory board. After the region's successful launch, she moved into the CPO role and led the organization through change in writing and implementing a new curriculum, designing and launching a new comprehensive database and regionalizing program operations between the field and the national program team.
Ajuah is originally from Oakland, CA, is a proud graduate of Clark Atlanta University and also completed doctoral coursework in educational leadership at University of Pennsylvania.
