Postcards from PSP: Kayla

We’ve launched a new series of “postcards” from students in iMentor’s Post-Secondary Program (PSP) who will be the first in their families to graduate from college. Each week, we will hear from a student about how they are faring on their path after high school. For more about the PSP students, follow #TheFirst on our social media channels.

This week, meet Kayla:

I’m a recent graduate of Union Square Academy for Health Sciences in NYC. Currently, I’m a first-year student at SUNY New Paltz in New York studying psychobiology.

When I was looking at colleges to attend, I saw SUNY New Paltz on a list of schools and it caught my eye. I started to learn about the school and I realized that this place could feel like home for me. It took a long time for them to get back to me about my application and I got nervous.

Thankfully, I got my acceptance the day before decision day. And now that I’m here, I’m so happy!
