iMentor NYC Visits AlphaSights for Career-Connected Learning Activities

On April 16, AlphaSights hosted a group of juniors and seniors from the Business of Sports School (BOSS) as part of iMentor NYC’s career-connected learning curriculum, where students are exposed to new and diverse industries to spark their interests in potential careers. Employees from AlphaSights volunteered to lead workshops that introduce students to budgeting concepts and continue their post-high school planning.

“At AlphaSights, many of our colleagues are eager to immerse themselves in the broader NYC community by serving causes they strongly identify with. Given our strong emphasis on professional development, our teams naturally gravitate toward mentorship-based opportunities,” says Henry Kahl, Associate, Product Operations and Mentor Ambassador. “By partnering with iMentor, not only do those participating develop impactful relationships with students, but they also improve their ability to mentor their peers internally. Our recent activation event with iMentor was a fantastic opportunity for colleagues across AlphaSights to bond with students via financial literacy and post-secondary planning exercises.”

“[This event] gives students an opportunity to connect with other organizations like AlphaSights. I’ve never heard of it until I came here,” says Jayden, a senior at BOSS. “[Activities] like this really opens students’ eyes to things that are going on around us.”

Following the workshops, students were joined by their mentors for their official iMentor pair event activity. Juniors worked on identifying fit factors for their college lists, and seniors finalized their postsecondary plans with additional guidance from their mentors.

AlphaSights continues to be a strong partner of iMentor and has cultivated champions on many levels, including over 60 employees who are volunteer mentors. In addition to Kahl, Owen Gideon-Murphy, Associate, Client Services, and Evan Thompson, Senior Associate, Learning & Development also serve as Mentor Ambassadors, who assist with recruitment efforts within the company. Sean Corrigan, COO at AlphaSights, is a member of the iMentor Young Executive Board, which leads fundraising and outreach activities. Together, AlphaSights and iMentor provide opportunities for students to receive hands-on learning experiences in real-world environments. These career-connected learning activities allow students to learn about careers with companies they may not have otherwise had access to, setting them up to explore new options and achieve economic mobility through postsecondary success.
