National Mentoring Month 2017

We’re welcoming the new year by celebrating National Mentoring Month!

National Mentoring Month is a campaign that brings together mentoring organizations, nonprofits, supporters, and volunteers to build awareness about the power of mentoring relationships. During the month of January, a collective focus is placed on recruiting new mentors, thanking existing mentors, and celebrating our successes in the field.

We invite you to participate in National Mentoring Month with us this year in these ways:

1. Change your profile picture for the month

Use this tool to update your profile picture on social media in January! Tell your friends and followers that you are a proud champion for a high school student. We hope this will spur a dialogue between you and your friends so you can share with them your experiences as a mentor.

2. Join us in the National Mentoring Month Kick-Off Twitter Chat

On January 4 at 3 p.m. ET/ 1 p.m. PT, we will join MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership and other organizations to discuss all things mentoring. We hope you join us and share your stories, photos, and experiences as a mentor!

3. I Am A Mentor Day

On January 12, tell the world that you are a mentor. Share your story on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using the hashtag #IAmAMentor. We hope you’re proud of your time as a volunteer mentor, and can’t wait to see your stories online. Feel free to share these sample posts

4. #ThankYourMentor Day

Thank Your Mentor Day is January 19. Who’s the person in your life that guided you through high school, college or the early years of your career — maybe a parent, teacher, or coach? Give thanks to this special person on this day. Your mentor will appreciate the kind gesture and will remember pride that comes with being a mentor.

5. Join us for a film screening

If you are in Chicago, please join our team for a film screening of College Week and a discussion afterwards with the filmmaker Derek Grace! We will gather in our office on January 26 at 5:30pm for refreshments and begin the screening at 6:00.
