This fall, as nearly 11,000 iMentor students across the country have returned to school, our community marks an incredible milestone: the launch of our 20th year supporting talented young people and their dedicated mentors.
It is truly humbling that what began as a simple idea with 49 students in 1999 has grown to a true movement spanning more than 60,000 people and 22 communities across the country.
To celebrate two decades of building a more equitable future for students, I wanted to share our newly launched 20th anniversary microsite. This interactive site depicts the universal student journey through iMentor, from the day students are matched with a mentor to college graduation and beyond. I invite you to dive in and explore the stories of students and other members of our community.
As I reflect on all that we’ve accomplished with your partnership, the idea that I continue to come back to is the power of our community. The power of us. We have seen this power in young people who have remained committed to their ambitions no matter what, in mentors who believe deeply in the promise of every young person, in the teachers, principals, and district leaders who embraced us, in the corporate partners who made our goals their cause, and in the supporters who have stood alongside us year after year.
Over the course of our 20th year, we are so excited to continue to celebrate the many people and moments that embody the power of us.
