iMentor Alumni Council Launches to Support Mentees and Alumni

Since iMentor’s founding in 1999, nearly 38,000 mentors and mentees have been matched in our program. Last August, despite the pandemic year, iMentor launched an Alumni Community, building a network for former mentors and students to stay connected to iMentor and to each other.

We are excited to launch the Alumni Council, a new leadership body with 18 members who are former mentees and former mentors, who will help connect alumni with one another for professional networking, career development, and community-building.

Over time, the group will also engage alumni with iMentor’s work through leadership opportunities, program engagement, mentor recruitment, and alumni giving. The council will also empower alumni to make an impact beyond iMentor through learning and activation around education and equity issues.

“I’m a strong believer in listening to students and finding ways to help them fight to achieve their goals through hard work and dedication,” said Justin Huggins, a professional actor and an Alumni Council founding member who previously mentored with iMentor NYC. “As a young student, my life was personally sent on a different trajectory because of my mentors. I would like to do the same for students like me and help to position them for success.”
